2017 Holder Workshops

As a holder of unclaimed property, it is your responsibility to review your business records and determine if you have unclaimed property to report in accordance with the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.

The West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office will be holding four industry specific workshops during the month of May to provide training for unclaimed property reporting requirements.

The first workshop will address the specific reporting requirements for people working in the Banking, Credit Union and Financial Institution industries. If you currently report checking or savings accounts, CDs, Cashier’s Checks, Safe Deposit Box Contents or any other types of property exclusive to these industries then this training opportunity will greatly benefit you. 

The second workshop will address the Board of Education, Correctional Facilities and Other State Agencies. If you currently report Expense Checks, Miscellaneous Outstanding Checks, Other Outstanding Official Checks, Payments for Goods or Services, Stale Dated Checks, Wages, or any other types of property exclusive to these industries you should attend this training.

The third workshop is for Magistrate Courts, Municipalities, Utility Providers & Any Other Entities. If you currently report Bonds Deposited with the Court, Court Ordered Refunds or Restitution, Missing Heir Funds, Other Court Deposits, Utility Deposits, Utility Refunds, Vendor Checks or any other types of property exclusive to these industries then this training opportunity will greatly benefit you. 

Our final workshop will address the Nursing Home, Hospital, or Health Care Provider industries. If you currently report Accounts Payable, Credit Balances, Funds Held in Fiduciary Capacity, Miscellaneous Outstanding Checks, Refunds Due, Vendor Checks, Wages or any other types of property exclusive to these industries you should attend this training session.
